Freezing days in Hong Kong.
HI WORLD.
Here I am, in Hong Kong. Freezing my *** off in the ice box chiller of the lobby. Free and fast Wi-Fi, I'm camping here. Finally, I get into some touch with technology. Absence of Facebook and mainly, Blogger has been bugging me. Plus, I have the dire urge to blog about Hong Kong. The people, the food, the bad sightseeing, the many tall skyscrapers and my Channel NewsAsia trip!
Kay, here I go. Disclaimer advice: LOOOOOOONG POST AHEAD.
Day 1, which is the 30th Nov (departure)
M, S and I sent me off. I surprised me by showing up, when someone said that he would not be able to send me off. But many thanks to the three of you for early morning laughs and hugs (: The plane ride was short, just over 3 hours thus only allowing me to watch ONE complete movie on the plane. Welcomed to Hong Kong by a rather long and hectic walk to the bus bay from the immigration checkpoints. Got to know the CNA people. Day one was slacked, with just touring and eating. Victoria Peak, AWESOME STUFF with the new friends I made. Had a crazy time on the peak, I guess part of the reason why we kept taking photos and going high was the icy cold wind blowing right at out faces. It is after all, the WINTER season.
Other than icy cream and sight-seeing, that was pretty much day one.
Day 2, 1st Dec
Morning call at 6.30am, CRAZY I know but it was all because of out CNA training session in the morning. Dim Sum for breakfast, like the typical Hong Kongers. CNA office after breakfast, comprehensive news reporting training. After which, we played around in the studio and headed out for our assignments. Partnered up and I guess doing a PTC isn't that easy. Standing in front of a real camera is nerve-wrecking. Retakes after retakes after retakes. Who knew that the correspondent could be sooooooooooooo intimidating. This kinda dampened some of our "ambitions" to be a journalist, or anywhere along that line. After CNA was our sight-seeing tour. Nothing much, as usual tours are meant to be boring. Ferry rides, walking, bus rides, shopping, night market etc... Communication was a HUGE barrier as I am not able to speak in Cantonese, neither is my grasp of Chinese good. Dinner at a chinese restaurant, and off we went to shop. Again.
Note to self; Hong Kong isn't a place where you can easily find sizes XS or S.
After shopping we played shots! Cruzers baby! Bang-bang games (that 007 game) with Javin, Ryan, Regine, Chloe, Jordin and Zhi Hao. Nasty concoctions with coffee, chips, tea, vodka and whatever else edible we could lay our hands on. Awesome stuffs.
Day 3, 2nd Dec
Our only free and easy day, started off with Dim Sum breakfast again. As usual, nothing much and all of us got sick of Dim Sum already. Guided tours to museum, temple before being released on our free and easy day. The number of Starbucks in Hong Kong, in one district is waaaaay more than the total number of Starbucks in Singapore. There is a Starbucks outlet at almost every corner, especially in the shopping districts or more commonly populated areas. Shopping wasn't all the rage though. Met the group for dinner, and off me and my mum went to shop. Again. THE WEATHER'S CHILLY, THE INDOOR AIR CONDITIONING IS CHILL-ER!!!!
Okay, that pretty much sums up my whole 3 days here. Will post pictures up soooooon.
Its currently 3 December 2009, 2.12AM. I have been sitting at the sofa since...........12plus.
I think I shall trod my heavy body back up to the room now. Or maybe I should head up to R's room and check if they're still playing shots.
"I fell, and am still falling...for you."
Missing my homeboy.
Goodnight.
