Extra, extra, read all about it!

Renault's top duo resigns from Formula 1!

Symonds, Briatore.

For those people who have been following the latest F1 scandal about Nelson Piquet Jr. ratting out the calculated crash in last year's 2008 Singapore GP (at a turn after the Padang straight). Team boss Flavio Briatore and chief engineer Pat Symonds have resigned.
Renault had denied all of the claims made against them by Piquet Jr., who was dismissed by the team in July after being told he had failed to perform to expectations. (which probably prompted Piquet to spill the beans).
However, on Wednesday 16th September, Renault appeared to partly admit some role in the controversy by adding in the statement they "would not contest the FIA's recent allegations concerning the Singapore Grand Prix". (Quoted from AFP)
Piquet Jr has immunity, which FIA granted him and his father, Nelson Piquet. Also, FIA offered the Chief Engineer immunity in exchange of full disclosure about the crashgate. If Symonds came clean, he would escape all sanctions by FIA.

Is Formula 1 being corrupt? Where's the normal racing rules without much politics just like how it was a few years back?

First, there was the spygate, where McLaren was found in possession of Ferrari team's data and McLaren was heavily slapped with a punishment of SGD$124 million.
Secondly, there was the liegate, where Lewis Hamilton and McLaren had lied to marshalls and officials in the Australian grand prix earlier this year.
Thirdly, there's was a large-scaled controversy between FIA President, Max Mosley and FOTA in the middle of the year.
Fourthly, t'was the end of the year, there's a crashgate involving Nelson Piquet Jr. and Renault.

Is this starting to be business and politics, instead of a sport loved by fans of all countries, ages and races?

Time to ponder....
